Why Independence Matters
At home care: We work with seniors/elderly who are living at their own homes, providing the health care services and the companionship they need.
Independent living buildings: We work in independent living buildings and can help seniors/elderly stay in here much longer with our help than having them sent to long term care facilities.
Long term care facilities: Currently, due to COVID-19, we aren’t able to provide services to anyone within these communities. We can, however, offer companionship services.
Assisted Living Facilities: These facilities have their own health care services internally. We can however offer companionship services.
- People don’t want us to be too nurse-y because we don’t want to seem like we are nurses.
- No vehicles are marked when we arrive at your home or facility.
- We don’t show up in scrubs. We make it feel like there’s a friend coming.
- Our team members are assigned to our clients, so they’ll see a familiar face each visit.

Covid-19 update
During the Covid-19 outbreak, home care can be an alternative to keep seniors safe at home. We understand that family members who may typically provide support may not be able to do so at this time.
Good Nutrition, a supplied fridge, a clean home, ensuring medication is on hand, connecting and staying in touch with their individual health challenges will help our seniors manage during this uncertain time.
Our staff are taking all precautions as directed by the BC Health Officer to keep you and your family members safe.
Here at Independence Matters, we know that enlisting support services is a big decision, and we aim to put our clients and their families at ease by meeting with them beforehand.
Our consultations are a relaxed, informal way for us to get to know our clients and their families, and allow us the opportunity to discuss options and answer any questions.
Dementia Care Services
We are dedicated to helping people live well during all stages of Dementia and memory loss. Our goal is to help clients stay at home—an environment they’re comfortable in and familiar with—as long as possible.
Our highly-trained Caregivers are knowledgeable and experienced in helping clients who are affected by memory loss and Dementia. We know that coming to terms with this condition is difficult, but we’re determined to make the process easier for both our clients and their families.

Flexible Care Programs For Seniors
Because we know that not every client needs the same level (or length) of care, we’re proud to be one of the only support service providers to offer flexible care programs. Our Caregivers are available with no minimums required.
Full Help & Care Support For Seniors
We work 7 days a week and all holidays to support our clients and their families. We offer 24-hour care in special circumstances (such as after a surgery, or if a family member is away temporarily).
